About painting skies
In 2010 I set myself the task of painting one small sky a day for 150 days. This resulted in a one-man show at the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath in 2012: it was called the ‘Bath Sky Diary Exhibition’. Not all of the paintings were exhibited however and a large number of them went into storage. Since then yet more paintings have been produced as an extension to the project.
ArtistSupportPledge Initiative
Now, with the advent of the unprecedented lockdown situation, a new scheme has been created by the artist Matthew Burrows www.matthewburrows.org/ where artists try to help each other through the sale of their paintings. I have decided therefore to earmark some of my small sky studies to make them available under the scheme. These can now be found on this website on the page #artistsupportpledge.
#artistsupportpledge
We now have this unusual and unprecedented situation involving self-isolation where many artists are struggling to show and sell their work. This is where the internet comes into its own and a brilliant new scheme called the Artist Support Pledge (#artistsupportpledge) gives artists the opportunity to share their work on the internet. Through this scheme, artists can help to support each other financially as well as giving others the opportunity to buy their work. The scheme was created by the artist, Matthew Burrows, and is a movement towards a culture of ‘generosity and gifted economy’.
